The Epsilon Rho Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. was chartered on December 13, 1969, at Purdue University. At the chapter’s charter, Purdue's campus had a strong need for the sisterhood, leadership, and scholarship that Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. provides. The twelve extraordinary women who chartered Epsilon Rho recognized this need and worked hard to bring the presence of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. to Purdue’s campus.

Despite the immense challenges put forth before them, whether academic, social, or racial, twelve women leading like the dedicated founders of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. back in 1908, carried out their vision. They filled a void in the campus community with sisterhood, leadership, scholarship, and service through Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. The Epsilon Rho Chapter continues to carry out the vision of its charter members and maintains a strong presence in serving the Purdue and West Lafayette communities.
